Her mother Martina Magenau Jacobs was a Carnegie Mellon University director of alumni relations at the Heinz College. William F. Jacobs Jr. is her father. Lebanon. She is a native of Lebanon. French German Irish Scottish and Scottish heritage. Her family in 1847 created the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery located in Erie Pennsylvania. John Martin Magenau Jr. acted as its President and COO until the brewery closed in 1978. Jacobs began studying acting when she was eight years old and took the acting class on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse while growing up.She participated in the Pittsburgh Public Theater where she had a regular place for the public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest leading her to be chosen as Titania in the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Mt. Jacobs left Lebanon High School and moved to New York City, in 2000. There she was a part of Group 33, the Drama Division of Group 33. Her bachelor's was awarded in 2004.
